If the climate scientists are correct then more people will need to replace their oversized cars with more efficient transport. For cargo bikes to be more popular they need to be smaller, cheaper, safer with loads, and sometimes fold away. Our unique hub steering trike can be used as a conversion kit or the folding cargo bike.

SUTs (Sports Utility Trikes) are much safer with cargo

Current cargo bike designs are big and expensive. Without folding they require a large garage to store them.
Our SUT has a low centre of mass and three wheels making luggage carrying safe and stable. The frame is low, small, and strong. It brings the advantages of a scooter but without the risks.
Hub steering for stability and manoverability

Hub steering is well proven on cars and recumbent trikes. It provides safe, high-speed, straight-line stability.
Riders can lean into the bends but the front wheels do not lean with them. This ensures great high-speed cornering and a large luggage carrying capacity.
Carry luggage safely, one size fits all

Carry up to 40kg, low down, safe, and stable. No side-stand required.
The design provides enough space for an ISOfix child seat to fit between the wheels.
The seat and handlebars are fully adjustable to give a one size fits all.
Overlay with traditional bike layout

The wheel, seat, and pedal layout and sizes are based on common dimensions from traditional bikes.
Our original design prototypes included pivot steering for large loads at low speed. This feature is still in development but we found that the hub steer only version worked so well that it's not economically worthwhile for the main version.
Fold away and lock securely

Open one locking pin then simply lift the middle of the bike and the rear suspension pivots to fold the bike away.
This feature allows the frame to be locked securely together. No chain is required and only cutting through the frame will allow the trike to be stolen. It can also be folded and locked around a post, to stop it from being taken away.
The folding action also closes the space under the frame or rear swinging arm, where the battery is stored.
Additional benefits from SUB designs
Rear wheel electric motors mean there is less weight to lift when folding the bike.
Rubber cushions provide some suspension as well as an overload indicator line.
Simply lift the middle of the bike to fold it in half.
The cavity inside the frame could be used for secure storage.
Belt drive can be used for cleanliness when folding.
Central lean and stability unit
All SUTrikes will require our patented (pending) central lean and stability unit to perform effectively. The current intention is to design and manufacture these units and sell them for use by bike manufacturers in their own SUTrikes. Prototype designs are already in testing and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss their full specification with potential customer.
